Father Patrick Desbois Speaks For Silenced Roma Gypsies

On April 2, 2013, the Maison Française of NYU hosted an event with Father Patrick Desbois, head of the Commission for Relations with Judaism of the French Bishops' Conference and Consultant to the Vatican. Desbois gave a lecture, followed by a question-and-answer session and short documentary on his work to construct a micro-history of the mass murders of the Roma during the Holocaust, featuring interviews with Roma people. Antonin Baudry, Cultural Counselor for the French Embassy in the United States, introduced Desbois, stressing the importance of the largely forsaken history of the Roma people.
