Do you teach French in a college or university? Do you offer, or wish to offer, professional French courses in your department? These workshops are perfect for you!
The French Embassy, in cooperation with the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry,is offering two workshops in French for professional purposes. These courses are hands-on training sessions designed to help professors improve their skills in developing a course in French for Professions or French for Tourism and Hospitality.
Professors, associate professors, assistant professors, lecturers, and Ph.D. students willing to implement a curriculum in professional French in their university are invited to send their application to one or both of the below workshops by April 30, 2023.
The workshops
1) Enseigner le français des professions (Register here):
University of Southern Maine – May 30-June 2, 2023
2) Enseigner le français de tourisme et de l’hôtellerie (Register here):
California State University – June 6-9, 2023
These workshops will be held entirely in French, and will be composed of:
6 hours of asynchronous online modules;
Several hours of guided individual work;
In-person 24-hour workshop.
Throughout the workshops, group activities will be offered to participants in order to concretize the theoretical aspects of the process.
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
Learn about the specifics of professional French;
Analyze an audience and establish benchmarks for language skills;
Build a training program in professional French;
Design and lead a session in professional French;
Evaluate the achievements of their learners in professional French.
The cost for participation is $100 for French for Professions and $130 for French for Tourism and Hospitality. Note that there are reduced fees for participants from the host university.
