OPEN CALL - Professional French Workshops

Are you teaching French in a Community College?  Do you offer, or wish to offer, professional French courses in your department? This workshop was made for you! 

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in cooperation with the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, are offering a 10-hour online workshop: Introduction to the methodology of French for Specific Purposes (FOS) and Business French. This training course is hands-on training sessions designed to help professors improve their skills in developing a course in Professional French.  

Ph.D. students, lecturers, associate professors, professors and assistant professors willing to implement a curriculum in professional French in their community college are invited to send their application to one or both of the below workshops by September 10, 2022

10 hours (divided into 5 micro-trainings of 2 hours)

Synchronous virtual workshops 

Proposed program 

The training will alternate theoretical contributions in large groups and practical application in sub-groups. The content of each micro-training will be contextualized to the business field and adapted to the needs of the Community Colleges' teachers.  

The following topics will be covered: 

  • The specificities of the teaching of professional French 

  • The resources available (programs, manuals, websites) 

  • The different phases of the pedagogical session 

  • Techniques of animation: simulations and games in class 

  • The Diplomas of Professional French Business A1-A2  

The workshop is held in French.

Ph.D. students, lecturers, associate professors, professors and assistant professors from American community colleges willing to implement a curriculum in professional French are invited to apply.

Maximum number of participants : 20.
