The 2022 Thomas Jefferson Fund Call for Proposals is Now Open!

The Embassy of France in the United States and FACE Foundation are pleased to launch the 6th call for proposals of the Thomas Jefferson Fund! The program aims to encourage and support cooperation among promising young French and American scholars and foster forward-looking collaborative research that addresses the most pressing global challenges.

The Thomas Jefferson Fund is considering proposals in all disciplines:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Science for Society (interdisciplinary STEM-HSS projects)

Selected Franco-American projects will receive up to $20,000 over a period of 2 years.

Priority will be given to innovative projects involving transatlantic mobility, collaborative research activities, the organization of joint workshops or conferences, the publication of joint articles, and the participation of younger doctoral researchers.

The grant is intended to cover expenses related to transnational mobility of researchers and their projects between France and the US. However, researchers are encouraged to obtain additional funding to cover other types of expenses necessary to the success of the project.

Proposals must be submitted jointly by an American and a French researcher who are at the beginning of their career in mid- to long-term positions at a research or higher education institution in the United States or in France (post-doctorate level, assistant or associate professor, maître de conférences or chargé de recherche). Applicants are not required to be citizens, but they must be legal residents of the US or France.

Interested researchers are invited to apply here.

Deadline for the submission of the project proposals: February 24, 2022
Estimated announcement of the selected projects: July 2022
