French for Professional Purposes - Workshops

Are you teaching French in a college or university ?  Have you opened, or wish to open, professional French courses in your department ? These online workshops are made for you! 

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in cooperation with the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, are offering two online workshops in French for professional purposes. These 25-hour courses are hands-on trainings designed to help professors improve their skills in developing a course in French for Health and Humanitarian Aid or in French for International Relations.  

Ph.D. students, lecturers, associate professors, professors and assistant professors willing to implement a curriculum in professional French in their university are invited to send their application to either one or both of the below workshops by May 19, 2021. 

 

The workshops

1) Enseigner le français de la santé et de l’humanitaire (Register here) : Washington University in St Louis - May 25 - June 4, 2021 (9 days)  

2) Enseigner le français des relations internationales (Register here) : 
University of Alabama - June 7-17, 2021 (9 days) 

These workshops will be held in French, entirely in virtual capacity, and will be composed of:

  • 10 hours of virtual workshop with one of the CCI trainers.
  • 15 hours of guided individual work. 

Throughout the workshops, group activities will be offered to participants in order to put into practice the theoretical aspects of the process. 

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Learn about the specifics of professional French;
  • Analyze an audience and establish benchmarks for language skills;
  • Build a training program in professional French;
  • Design and lead a session in professional French;
  • Evaluate the achievements of their learners in professional French.

The cost for participation is $50. Note that there is no registration fee for the teachers coming from the partner university.
