Summary of the Project

The teaching of French has changed dramatically in the past 25 years. Today, there are 900.00 french teachers around the world. French is the second-most studied foreign language in the US, and competition for French teaching positions is fierce, making the need for high-quality teacher training more critical than ever. Given the current professional landscape, earning a Masters degree remains one of the most sought after ways for K-12 french teachers to advance in their career and on the pay scale. With this in mind, the current proposal, Teaching French Across Borders (TFAB), directly responds to the needs of French teachers in both the Us and in France by establishing two teacher training programs, one at the University of Winsconsin-Madison (UW) and one at aix-Marseillme Université (AMU), tailored to the teaching of French as a foreign language).
